Saturday Score!

This morning, we got up super early (6 am!) to head out to some garage sales. We are planning a master suite makeover and wanted to see what we could find to help with the costs. We hit several sales and ended up with these awesome finds!

Cindy found this sweet punching bag for our home gym for $20! It retails for $100!

She also got this circular saw for $20... it retails for $70!
We got these pretty wreaths for $1 each!

My favorite find of the day.... matching sand colored, crackle-finished lamps with brushed nickel bases.  The lamps are from Pier 1 and in near perfect condition, and although they don't have shades (yet), they are certainly worth way more than the $5 we paid for both of them!  Score!

But, by far the BEST score of the day...

Ha!  That's right, baby!  Thanks to Kroger and the recent gas prices, we filled up both cars at $2.93/gallon!  MAJOR SCORE!

I would say it was a productive morning...

What I wanna know is....
  • What's the best deal you ever scored?
  • How was your Saturday morning?
Till next time, friends! : )

Pool time and a bush trimming! Good times!

Yesterday we took the nieces and nephews to the pool/splash pad at one of our sister communities. I don't care how old you are, that place is pretty awesome. I seriously don't know who had more fun, the kids or us!

I even got a surprise thank you kiss from Jack, which is a rare treat! After everyone packed up and left, Cindy and I hit the gym for a step class. Our legs felt like jello, but that still didn't stop us from heading out for a nice dinner...after a quick shower, of course.
Today started off with an early Aqua Fit class for me, and sleeping in for Cin : ) We shopped around for heart rate monitors, had lunch, then spent the rest of the afternoon watching the new Eddie Murphy movie, A Thousand Words. You're probably anxiously wondering where the bush trimming comes in, huh? Well, we have a huge bush (haha) in the corner of our yard that covers a huge electrical box. While I appreciate the purpose it serves, I hate that thing! I'm always wondering what (or who...yes, I have an active imagination) is lurking behind it. Thanks to Pinterest and my previously mentioned active imagination, I decided that the bush should go and a lattice box should cover the box with a few, small, pretty plants surrounding it. Sounds pretty, right? Well, today was phase one of Operation No More Bush. (I should have tshirts made.) You can see a before, during, and after shot of phase one. That's it, peeps! Time to hit the hay! Yard sales and Pilates are on the agenda for tomorrow! G'night!

Full house

I could not fall asleep last night. Actually I guess I fell asleep several times, but I couldn't STAY asleep. I have no idea what time it was when I finally fell asleep for the night. I do, however, know what time it was when I woke up...8:15. Ugh. If you're not a teacher on summer vacation then you might not understand how completely unnecessary that is. Anyway, after we hopped...uh, okay...more like dragged our butts out of bed, we got dressed for the Aqua Fit class and headed to the gym. After about 10 minutes in the pool...we realized that the instructor was not coming. Yes, you read that right. We woke up early for nothing! After a few more minutes in the pool then sitting in the sauna until I felt like I was gonna choke (about 12 minutes) and seeing some old lady's bare ass in the locker room, we headed home.
We spent the rest of the day "shopping" for our master suite makeover. It'll happen one day. Hopefully.

As we were shopping, Cindy's sister, Crystal, called to tell us that she and her sister from another mister (no, literally...she has a sister from another mister) were headed to our house for a visit. That means 4 kids (ages 5-8) have taken over our house. I'm not kidding...these kids are awesome, but they are like mini tropical storms! Should be fun tomorrow when my sister and the boys come over and we all go to the splash pad and pool! For now, everyone is snug as a bug in a rug watching a movie. Let's hope The peace lasts!

Good night!

I got my butt kicked today, and I loved it!

We joined a gym! Again. : )

Backstory: My left leg has been hurting, so I need to cut back on the treadmill for now, but I'm still determined to slim down!! My solution? Join a gym and participate in at least one group class a day. At least 5 times a week, preferably six. BONUS: we get to work out together!

Tonight we did the Bodyworks plus Abs class. It's pretty much a one hour total body workout. And let me just say...it kicked our butts. In a good way. Then we sat in the sauna for as long as we could stand it. I've seriously never had so much sweat dripping from my body. Ever. Tomorrow morning we're doing Aqua Fit (water aerobics with weights). I'm really excited about that class cuz I love being in water. We'll see how excited I am afterwards.
One more thing...Cindy and I made a pact. If we give up the gym and stay fat, we get to punch each other in the face. Okay, I made the pact and Cindy just laughed. That still counts, right? I'll let you know how that works out.

That's it for now.

I love summer.

So I've finally gotten around to writing my first blog post. Well, since I've had a (very) short lived blog before, this technically isn't my FIRST post, but just go with it. I finally picked what I think is a cute blog name that I can live with, since this blog will be about our life and love in the suburbs. I hope you enjoy reading it!

So...why do I love summer, you ask? This is what I did today:
10:00 am - wake up, pull on my workout gear, and head upstairs for some TT (treadmill time).
10:45 am - hobble downstairs, shower and dress for the (lazy) day
11:15 am - lunch with Cindy (soup and sammy)
11:45 am - sit on the couch and multitask (watch TV, read blogs, FB, Pinterest, and text my BFF)
12:30 pm - fall asleep...multitasking is hard work : )
2:30 pm - wake up to the sound of Cindy cleaning out the pantry
3:30 - after pantry/laundry room is clean and organized - sit and watch more TV
7:00 pm - go to grocery store to get last minute things for dinner
8:00 - wash and cut veggies while Cindy preps chicken for delicious chicken packets.
9 pm - (no, we don't normally eat this late) eat yummy dinner while watching American Ninja Warrior.
10 pm - in bed ... more multitasking.

nuff said.
